- I spent 90 minutes outside in an gorgeous spring-like Colorado day;
- I saw an incredible pink sunset over the white-capped front range, and stopped to admire it;
- I did not contribute to traffic congestion;
- I reduced my risk of obesity and related disease;
- As such (above) I helped reduce the cost of health care in the US as well as my own costs;
- Between today and tomorrow I'll reduce my risk of heart disease by 50%;
- I (statistically) increased my life expectancy;
- I didn't worry about the price of gas, and didn't contribute to the need to import oil to the US;
- I eliminated the need for a gym membership;
- I chatted at a stoplight with a couple walking their uber-friendly Great Dane a mile or so from my house;
- I participated in the world's most efficient form of transportation;
- I came home happy.
Sure, there were trade offs. My round-trip commute took about 45 minutes longer than it might have in a car. But overall, pretty sure I am better off today for having ridden my bike.
